Et cetera

I ran to Standard Kitchens this morning and signed for our new lower-level (i.e. basement) cabinets. I think they'll look great, but most importantly, they'll give us some much needed storage for organization!

The cabinets will be a cider hickory finish and the lower cabinets and desk area will be kitchen-counter height (versus table height).

I have the layout of the cabinets, pictured below. Again, if you click on the picture, it'll enlarge it for your viewing pleasure. The rendering doesn't look quite right. It is improperly stretched for some reason.

The counter will be covered in laminate, or more specifically, Jamocha Granite.

As with any re-do, there are always extras. We have to rip out the carpet where the cabinets will eventually go, so we'll need some new flooring. And, we'll need to have some electrical work for the under cabinet lighting and necessary outlets. Fun stuff!

O.K. this is scary. We have Hickory cabinets in our newly remodeled kitchen and we were going to order that exact countertop - jamocha granite - before we decided to go to the Tile Shop and get the big granite tiles.

Great minds truly think alike.

That looks awesome! I can just picture Emma there studying her spelling words and writing her state report on South Dakota.
