Today was day one of swim lessons with Miss Anne. There are eight kids in the class ranging from 2 - 5. Quite the spread, but nothing Miss Anne and her two helpers couldn't handle.
Emma was pretty eager to go, of course, and ran right to the pool slide when I had to inform her that she can't swim YET so she better refrain from taking the slide into the pool. Yep, she's that kind of girl...
So, the brood of eight kids did pretty well (the moms did too, I might add), but no one liked it when Miss Anne announced it was time for their "eyes to go under water like fish do." Then the waling and gnashing of teeth began. In my opinion, it was quite hilarious to see eight little kids try to find their "happy place"...to no avail. Amazingly, the only two-year old went first and performed like a champ. That was not the case for the remaining seven.
I think Emma did pretty well for her fearless self, but when all your peers are bawling their eyes out, and/or screaming...that's bound to rub off, at least a little.
Miss Anne says tomorrow may be a tad worse, before it gets better. I believe that'll be true.
I had some video of when we first arrived and most of the kids were giddy and chatty. My last video clip (which I won't post out of respect for all the crying little people) is right after Miss Anne announced their last under water swim "to mom." All eight kids were simultaneously crying and yelling. It was downright hilarious to see. And yes, I do have a sensitive bone in my body and I'm sure their fear was very real, but I also know they were all going to live...maybe after a little coughing and spitting, but they would live nonetheless :)

All was well over here until tonight before bed when RG tearfully told me she was not going to swimming lessons tomorrow. =) Let the gnashing of teeth begin again...
