April 21

We are having a ton of fun with Sam. Admittedly, it sure feels different this time around and I'm not 100% sure why. I don't remember Emma being a very content baby, but Sam...lay him down for a second while I'm doing something and he's snoozing. And, he doesn't cry unless he's wet or hungry. He does squeak quite a bit though - pretty cute. He's been sleeping like a trooper, up only once or twice a night, and in his crib from day one. That I KNEW would be different than last time. No sleeping on the couch for this 36 year old mama. All I can do is thank The Lord for this precious gift, we love him so much already and each moment it multiplies.

Our other precious gift, Emma, is adjusting pretty well. She absolutely loves Sam and is very gentle with him. Under close supervision she competently holds him and his bottle. She eagle eye watches EVERY LITTLE thing I do with Sam like bathing and changing his diaper. Moments later Emma is mimicking on her own baby dolls what she just saw.

It's not all peaches-n-cream though. Emma is definitely testing the new family dimension and that is to be expected. We pray daily for oodles of patience to deal with our 3 yo...Sam is the easy one these days :)

While we are handily assimilating to life as a family of four, April 21 lingers in our minds. This date is when Sam's birth mom will go to court and forever and finally relinquish her rights. Once that happens, I will breath a huge sigh of relief. Currently, Joel and I are considered temporary placement, but will be Sam's legal parents once the birth mom signs off...on April 21. Please pray with us that all goes smoothly. We have no reason to believe it will go otherwise and we are grateful that God is in control!
