A quicky update

We've been a tad busy lately, or maybe just busier than normal :) Preparations are underway for Emma's new big-girl room and the linens for the nursery are getting pulled out of storage, washed, pressed and used again! And, while the nursery was intended for either sex, it does look a bit more feminine than masculine so I'll have to make a few minor adjustments before the little guy arrives.

Last night we drove East again to hang out and have dinner with our birthmom. We got to know her a lot better and were able to meet a bunch of people who mean a lot to her. It was great to have a little insight to her life. We hope to get together with her at least one more time before the big day, September 23.

Here are some photos showing what else we've been up to lately.

Thanks to my father-in-law's herb garden, this massive mound of
fresh basil was fodder for some delicious homemade pesto

Emma's first amusement ride SOLO! She loved it and had
a blast at the Hudsonville Fair with Joel and Papa & Grandma

Joel's canned meat didn't fare so well this year - 5th place...out of five :(

Is summer a reason to have ice cream every night?!?!

Hmmm...no wonder she likes having lunch at Grandma VanderTuin's house.

There's nothing like celebrating Halloween in August!
Emma in her play princess dress for lack of having her
official Halloween costume yet.

Wow I stepped away from your blog for a bit and to come back to such happy news. Congratulations! Oh and your camping trip looked wonderful. Makes me miss living in Michigan, OOOh for those cool nights and low humidity levels!

I've been thinking about you guys a lot.

I can't eat pesto cuz it's green..i know, weird.

Ice cream should be eaten every night regardless of the season!
