Photography has definitely become a burgeoning hobby for me. It started with a simple point-and-shoot digital camera, then along came Emma. She has been photographed quite literally every step of the way...poor child. Then somehow in the mix (I'm still not sure how I ever convinced Joel) I bought my first D-SLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera.
This past weekend I took my first photography workshop given by a phenomenal local photographer with hopes of increasing my skills and knowledge. I absolutely loved it and can say that it was worth every penny. A few things that I learned, where:
- How to shoot in manual mode which means I learned how to properly and independently set the aperture, shutter speed, ISO for a successful picture (I hope)
- Practice makes (closer and closer to) perfect
- Having a great lens is KEY and VERY expensive (Joel says this was the worst part of the class) so I will begin saving my pennies :)
- Using natural light (no flash) is the only way to go
- I prefer to shoot in the photo journalistic method vs. traditional portrait method
- Photoshop and I have a long road ahead
- I have self-educated myself thus far, pretty well
- Chatting with other hobby-photographers is priceless
- I will seek out additional photography workshops (anyone interested?!)
I've added a list to the right of my blog showing various photographers whose work I follow and find inspiration in.

The 'ole blog is looking very springy and green. Good luck with the photography - the pics of Emma in her two-piece are adorable. May I just say, cute belly button! :)
