Healthy peanut

Emma had her two-year appointment today and the report is good. She ranks in the 95th, 60th and 90th percentile in the following categories, respectively: height(36"), weight (27lbs), head (19"). So far it looks like she'll be fairly tall and thin...PRAISE THE LORD!!!

On another note, this was by far, one of the most trying appointments I've ever had with her. She went Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde on me this morning and she didn't even get any shots. By the end of the appointment, she was snot crying so hard (because I told her "no" after she peppered me with about 20, ridiculous "i wants" while we waited for the Dr. to show up) that all the nurses and clerical staff assumed she DID have shots. After I chased her down the hall to put her coat on, I then had time to explain that NO, she did not have any shots and was just acting horribly. To top it all off, as we were walking to the car, Emma decided to throw herself onto the grey-grimy-slush-covered pavement. She was soaked and I was disgusted by what covered her clothing so she got to ride home in her diaper and socks. And this, all after I told her we were going to go look at "kitchens" for her, for her birthday (belated). Apparently that didn't matter to her...

The picture you see above is Emma in her most favorite outfit, naked as a J-bird. I'm not sure if she really wants to be potty trained or if she just sees it as a chance to get rid of the restrictive stuff we call clothing. She actually does use the potty-chair appropriately most of the time, but I also know that she'd rather be naked than clothed...ALL OF THE TIME. Again, I know I have to make my own commitment to training her and then prepare myself to spend many many days in the bathroom with her. I suppose I should do it now while the snow is flying and there isn't much else to do! If any of you seasoned moms have brilliant potty training techniques....I'm all ears!
