Dad's other job

Joel's other job as a paid-on-call fire fighter is pretty much awesome, most of the time. Admittedly there are times when he gets a call and has to dash out the door that don't always make me happy. It always seems to happen when were having dinner, during Emma's bedtime routine, or when Joel is cleaning up the kitchen. But then I force myself to think, "O.K. save a life or, have a clean kitchen." I'd by lying if I said that I never wished it was my kitchen that was clean.

Anyhow, today was cool. Joel and fellow fire fighters brought a smoke-house to a local elementary school to teach children how to react and what to do if their home caught on fire. I brought Emma there so she could get a glimpse of what dad was doing today. She loved it.

Dad's helmet is a bit too big

The smoke house used for training children how to
respond to a fire situation. It's two floors and they
even fill it with smoke for real-life effect.

This is the phone booth where children practice calling 911 and
learn to respond to real life questions that would confront
them if their home was actually on fire

CAPTION multiple choice
a. Joel's Alice In Wonderland dream come true
or
b. Emma loves this child-sized "home"
