Father's Day: We had a nice day that included church in the morning, grilled Cornish hen for lunch (not even Father's Day kept Joel from his grill), a HUGE afternoon nap for Emma (yeah!), a nap for Joel and then an afternoon babysitter for Emma so Joel and I could run some errands and go out for dinner with no interruptions! Truly enjoyable!
this is a Cornish game hen...very tasty!
Technology meltdown: For anyone who knows me, this is a rarity as I normally embrace any and all technology. I have an iPod nano that hasn't seen the light of day in months. I'm trying to revitalize Joel's 4-year old laptop with a reload of Windows, etc. I'm still learning how to take good pictures with my new digital Canon Rebel XTi. I'm learning by trial and error which is a very time consuming method and not a method for the patience-challenged person like myself. I'm trying to set-up/edit/publish my 2005-2006 blog book which is taking far longer than I ever anticipated (but much less time consuming that any scraping project). I'm working on learning Photoshop CS2 as well...not a program to learn overnight. And, my cell phone is slowly, but surely, taking a crap. Oh, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how much I loathe cell-phone companies and their contracts, policies, lack-of-customer service, etc. On top of all this, I'm supposed to keep up on my blog??
I'm trading my laptop and all other technology in for this ->
Vacation: Joel and I fly to D.C. in a couple days for 5nights/6days. Joel has an American Library Association conference that'll keep him occupied for at least half of the time, but every other moment will be jam packed with museum visits. We also have a scheduled tour of the White House and the Capitol. Thanks to both sets of grandparents, Emma will be in good hands and sleeping in her own crib most of the time! I'm a huge fan of consistency so even though we're gone, she'll have some normalcy to her days.
We are staying here, at the Grand Hyatt, in Washington, D.C.
