Another FIRST

I am proud to say that Emma has all 20 teeth that she is supposed to have - healthy ones too!

Today was Emma's first dental appointment and aside from her telling the dentist that we don't help her brush her teeth (we do), it went without a hitch.

These "firsts" are also giving me great insight into how Emma reacts to new situations. Her normal smiley, chatty, outgoing personality is put on hold and she becomes very serious. She did have one moment with the suction tool that let the hygienist know it probably was o.k. to let Emma swallow the rinse water they spray into one's mouth every so often.

Oh, and mom (me) did get a little "talking to" by the dreamy (did I just say that) Dr. Hoekwater, himself. Apparently it's time for me to quit letting Emma have a pacifier at nap-time and night-time (zip-it Bradi). What??!! I thought graduating from high school while still using a pacifier was acceptable...I guess not. Mom (me) is just nervous that Emma's stellar sleeping and napping habits would be upset and/or shortened...which is not acceptable :)

Of course, Emma chose a PRINCESS Cinderella toothbrush

Emma's future is so bright, she has to wear shades...

I thought the same thing about the pacifier and was terrified there would be no more naps. She cried about 5 mins the first night, and never mentioned it again. Maybe you won't have a problem! All of the Hoekwaters are dreamy!

My 2nd daughter had her pacifier for a long time. I was starting to think it was just a habit more than anything - so when she was 2 and we returned from our last camping trip of the year I inadvertantly "left it in the trailer for the winter". She mentioned it a few times, but that was about it. Little did she know they are still in her top dresser drawer where they were all along. The weird thing is, that when we got the trailer out in the spring to sell it she actually remembered that I had told her they were in there. Didn't cause a problem though. Good Luck!

(A friend of mine, cut a hole in the end of the pacifier and her son spit it out and never wanted it again. )
