Yesterday was a good day to stay toasty, warm and inside. Of course, we ventured out. I've never feared driving in snow or bad weather...probably because my parents never seemed to care about it either. In fact, I think they (and I) actually enjoy it, so we went.
By the time church was officially canceled, Joel and I were up and at 'em since we attend a much too early 8:30am church service. And, since the prospect of being cooped-up inside the house for another day with an active near-three year old was not a fun one, we decided we'd go out.
We called Joel's grandma (who lives across the road from us) and asked if she needed anything - she did. The main roads were actually fine if you drove slowly. No one else was on the roads. But, the few back roads we had to traverse (to pick up Grandma's meds) were quite a thrill since due to the massive winds, you could not tell the road, from the field, from the ditch. I figured if I kept the car between the mailboxes, I'd be o.k. We were. After testing the less traveled, country roads, we decided to stay on the main roads from there on out. Kuddos to our little AWD car that handles like a champ in snow AND gets fantastic gas mileage.
