Daddy's weekend

As a mom, I always hope when I return from a time away that things went well - that Emma was easily managed and that a good time was had by all. I always want Emma and Joel to have an enjoyable time together, no drama. In fact, I'll take all the misbehavior Emma can dish out just so I know that going away will be o.k. Maybe it helps alleviate guilt for going away. Who knows...

Anyhow the report WAS good and Emma was apparently a gem! Just what I like to hear.

Joel had lots of activities planned since it was the famous Byron Days last weekend. And, since I had (mistakenly) taken BOTH cameras with me, Joel had to dig through our drawers to find our dinosaur FILM camera. Um...not sure I'd know how to use it. But, Joel did manage to take a few photos to document the weekend. (note: film-scanned photos)

First thing in the morning, Joel participated in the 5k run/walk while
Emma enjoyed a ride in her stroller. They slowed only once, briefly, to borrow
a few graham crackers from a passing runner (for Emma). I'm pretty sure Joel walked the race as no visible 5k training was happening in
the Hondorp household.

Next was the youth fun run. I think the run was only a few blocks, but Emma
took it seriously and was quite proud to receive her T-shirt and medal.
I heard she was quite the spectacle as she ran
with a purple popsicle that she scored moments before the race began.
That's my girl...multi-tasking at it's best!

Every child's race tag displayed the "#1"

EP looks just like Suri Cruise in that last picture.
