Church marriage retreat weekend

Joel and I along with about 150 other people from our church attended a marriage retreat this weekend in Shipshewana, Indiana. In one word, phenomenal! Not only were we able to hang out with old friends, but we made new friends too. The retreat was extra special since our former pastor and wife, who are now full time authors, speakers and teachers elsewhere, were our featured guests.

While Kevin & Sherry covered many wonderful topics that were solidly rooted in The Word, it was their heart felt stories and illustrations that blew my hair back. Their love for Jesus and each other was truly a life-changing testimony. If you ever come across any of their books, studies or have the opportunity to hear them speak...do it!

The other great part of the weekend was simply being away together and not having to worry about Emma. Joel's parents moved in to our home to watch Emma for our three night get-away and it was much appreciated! Better yet, Joel's parents deemed Emma an "angel." I'm not sure if I'm like other moms, but leaving Emma behind doesn't cause me fear of her safety, quite the opposite. I fear (hope really) that Emma behaves well for whomever is taking care of her...and apparently she did! Good girl!

It was chilly out...time for some HOT coffee

Always eager for a good time

Melissa, Bradi & I...three musketeers for the weekend

A common scene all weekend

Getting ready to dine on an authentically prepared and served
Amish dinner. Not being a meat & potato gal, I still gave this meal two-thumbs
up, but my favorite part was watching this entire family (from the dad
all the way down to their young, young girls) work together to serve us.

Ah mawwiage. (Princess Bride is a classic.) Looks like fun and I've just got to say that your hair with a little clip in it is too cute.
