You won't hear much mainstream hype about the the movie Bella, but it has a powerful message that needs to be heard. As an adoptive parent, I am even more compelled than before (if that is possible) to spread the message of LIFE (and adoption) versus the alternative...abortion.

Promoted by Heartbeat International, Bella is a love story that possesses the power to lift the human spirit and challenge the heart and minds of those contemplating abortion. Bella took the top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival,the highly coveted People's Choice Award, a distinction that puts it in the company of such Oscar-winning films as Chariots of Fire, Life is Beautiful, and Hotel Rwanda. Bella will also receive the Legacy Award from the Smithsonian Latino Center in September.

This premiere film is a loving antidote to the "culture of death" that permeates our society. Viewers experience how a woman suffers and finds a solution for an unexpected pregnancy. Viewers also witness a man of integrity who supports the choice of adoption.

This movie opens in Grand Rapids next Friday.
