88 years apart, but lots in common

Emma and her great grandma (Joel's grandma) have 88 years between them. Their birthdays are only 3 days apart. In February, Emma will turn two and Grandma Kosten will be blessed with 90 years of life.

I remember when we told Joel's grandma that we were going to adopt, she made a little sigh (almost like relief) and then a huge grin lit up her face. She had been adopted herself back in 1918 when adoption was considered something very different than it is today. I recall feeling very affirmed (not that we needed it) in our decision and knew that things would be o.k. because we had someone close to us who knew what it was like.

This morning during coffee, Emma and Gma Kosten were having a playful time and were both laughing hysterically. It was precious.
