Sunday in D.C.

Well, our evening plans changed. After an afternoon of kicking back and relaxing, Joel decided we were going to the Smithsonian American Art Museum & National Portrait Gallery. Believe or not, when Joel mentioned that we go, I balked at the suggestion and I immediately got the ole evil eye (i.e. we were going). Now, I'm eating a bit of crow because I absolutely loved it, loved it, loved it. I wish we had time to read every plaque and look at every portrait...it was that amazing. After the museum we sauntered to a small, local pizza joint for wood fired pizza and some calamari.

Upon leaving, we noticed many black, official looking cars. Come to find out, as we got closer to Ford Theater, there were more black cars, white house security, police and secret service everywhere. A bystander told us the President was filming a pre-recorded Christmas special at the Ford Theater...which is funny because we walked by the theater yesterday and commented on the fresh paint and huge media trailer parked outside.

Sunday's lunch destination in Chinatown...the eats were marginal at best

An unfinished painting of George Washington that served as
the basis for the engraving of Washington on the one-dollar bill

A sweet painting of Reagan

I loved this Norman Rockwell of Nixon

Joel admiring one of his favorite Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt.

This is the bust of Alexander Graham Bell, whom Joel claims,
invented the most annoying product ever...the telephone
