My knees and below are in pain. Apparently I'm not used to walking for hours on end. Oh, and I'm nearing 35 years of age, ugh! Hello ibuprofen!
This morning we woke up bright and early to take our scheduled White House tour. The security was not as overwhelming as I thought it would be, but more just a quick double check that we were on a list. I was very honored to actually be in the White House and walk the halls where some of the most powerful people in the world have lived and worked. The tour was pretty limited to certain areas of the White House, but it was awesome nonetheless. The tour only took about 20 minutes, and was self-guided with the aid of velvet, red ropes to keep us from entering unauthorized areas. I highly recommend this tour if you're ever in the D.C. area.
Monday morning, we are scheduled to tour the Capitol.
Something I've noticed about D.C. is that it is a very clean city. The Metro Rail, which we've taken quite a bit, is phenomenal! It is MUCH cleaner than NYC's subway, which was pretty disgusting when we spent several days there in 2005.
On another note...while I'm having a GREAT time and loving the time away from home, I'm very much missing Emma. I find myself gravitating towards little kids that are near Emma's age. But, I do find solace in the fact that she is with her grandparents, the next best thing to mom and dad :)

1 thing(s) you said:
Oh yes, and don't forget all those calls to & from relatives that fill you in on what is going on in Emma's life,( Angie, G'ma VT) even though Joel put his foot down and allows you one call a day!!That is OK. I would wonder about you if you did not call!!
Love, Mom
