With the nice weather looking like it's here to stay, a few changes have occurred at our house. First, Joel has started (and manages) our church summer golf league every Tuesday night. He absolutely loves it and it gives him a chance to hone his golf skills on a regular basis.
Secondly, our outside time has increased dramatically. I have already forgotten what it is like to be cooped up inside ALL winter and don't have a clue what we did to make the time pass.
Monday we took a trip to the John Ball Zoo. It was a beautiful morning so Joel, Emma, Grandpa Hondorp and I thought we'd beat the rush and get there right as it opened, 10AM. It seems that half of Kent County had the same idea. There was a line about 100 deep by the time we got to the ticketing area. No harm, the lines moved quickly and by 10:10AM we were on our way to the first exhibit...the fantastic flamingos. Actually, if you know the John Ball Zoo, none of the exhibits are that fantastic. I am eager for the new Lion exhibit though. There were many loaders moving massive amounts of dirt around in preparation for our tawny friends!
We have also been spending a ton of time at any one of Byron Township's beautiful parks...daily. I will know each park in the near vicinity like the back of my hand by summer's end.
And, last but not least, camping season is soon to be in full-swing. While I'm not a camper (I'm a day camper), I've married into a camping frenzied family! Joel's brother just bought their first (non pop-up)travel trailer and plan to have it stationed up north on a seasonal lot. I know we'll have a one-way ticket to that campground all summer long.
