Thanks for the tag Laurie! Oh how I love coming up with and sharing things that I normally wouldn't share with acquaintances...let alone the world wide web!
Here we go, 6 things you might no know about me:
- After I graduated from Davenport University, I remained in contact with one of my favorite professors, my political science professor. Even though we held opposite political views, we got along great and respected each other. During a time when she was working on her PhD, she asked me to be a substitute professor several times. I was scared to death, but accepted. I'm glad I did.
- I truly stalked my husband (I didn't dare talk to him...can anyone believe that?!) for about 1 year before the opportunity arose for ME to ask HIM out, to a wedding...we were engaged 6 months later and married 13 months later. In fact, we talked about getting married even though we had dated for less than two months.
- I've been on TWO honeymoons, but married once. My first honeymoon trip was due to an engagement break-up of a friend (thank goodness...we didn't like the guy). My girlfriend was ready to party and still go on with her plans so went to Hawaii for 10 days and had the most phenomenal time ever. In fact, another one of our girlfriends joined us for a threesome!
- Both of my parents were from the same small, farming town in South Dakota and since they decided to move to Michigan in the 60's (thank goodness!), my siblings and I grew up with zero extended family around, ever. This is the polar opposite of my husband's life...which took me a bit of getting used to (holidays, showers, weddings, church, grocery store, across-the-street, etc).
- I once took a 5 week Au Pair (live in nanny) job with a couple that I didn't even know, upon the recommendation of my sister who lived in California at the time. This couple wanted me to live with them in their Lake Tahoe residence for their one month vacation. Upon arriving, I realized I was there to watch their 3-year old daughter for 2 hours every morning while they worked out (boy, that made me feel good). The mom was a Hollywood talent executive and the dad was a high powered attorney who commuted to Washington, DC every week from San Francisco. I got to drive a convertible Miata for the month and rubbed elbows with people of the most enormous wealth I'll ever see in my life. In a strange twist, the mom turned out to be pretty lonely and clung to me like I was her best friend and literally sobbed after the 5th week (that I spent at their home in San Francisco), when I was preparing to leave. She begged for me to move out to San Francisco. These 5 weeks go down as the strangest in my life. I'm still trying to figure out why I was there...
- I have a husband who gladly and superbly performs many tasks that most men wouldn't be caught dead doing. Joel cooks, does laundry, cleans out my purse, takes baths, likes shopping more than I do (or, he could just have more patience than me), lets me drive, loves Broadway musicals, lets me hold the remote (a lot of the time) and last but not least...he ALWAYS puts far more thought into special days like Birthdays, Anniversaries, holidays than I do. I always feel like a putz for my last-minute card. And, not that I need to, but let me state that he is a man's man of eclectic and lovable proportions.
2 thing(s) you said:
Professor, stalker, honeymoon crasher, au pair - any other titles to add to your resume? :)
Love that your friend took you on her honeymoon sans the groom.
Thanks for playing along.
