Spring Break

Spring Break used to mean a LOT to me. My parents, my three siblings and I (and a friend or two) would pile into a Suburban and make the 18+ hour drive to Gulf Shores, Alabama (note: our family NEVER left early, skipping the last day of school!). I'm not sure if this is a West Michigan phenomenon, but it seems that a good portion of certain schools all go to the same place...at least mine did.

Upon arrival to Mecca, I'd meet up with all my buds from school and we'd pal around all week knowing that our parents were mostly occupied and entertained with their friends, thus allowing us kids a bit more freedom than normal. I think our family began going to Gulf Shores in 1982 and continued the tradition for about 13 years, skipping a year here or there. Good times, great memories!

Now-a-days, Spring Break doesn't mean a whole lot to me other than most retail places are less busy...which is a bonus (oh, and we had our choice of seats at church on Sunday!). Until Emma (and future family members) is a bit older, I don't suspect we'll be taking our family anywhere during West Michigan's coveted Spring Break week.

Briefly, this is what WE did to celebrate Spring Break. Emma got a new swimsuit in anticipation of Summer, so I turned up the heat, ignored the snow blowing sideways and let her run around the house for a while.

Oh how I love Michigan weather! :)

RG's response to seeing this post..."Emma, MY water" LOL
Leave it to her to pick out her sippy cup in the picture. OH. Next comment now is "See Emma horsies".

Is that one of those new-mod suits that is supposed to limit the burn areas? Back in our day, our moms let us play outside all day with not a drop of sunblock on! Now we are plagued with mother's guilt if they get just a little pink. =)

I'm not sure...it probably is one of those swimm suits. All I know is that I hate smearing thick, greasy lotion on myself, let alone Emma. So, if this minimizes my need to do that...MOD swim suit it is!
