My Weekend Novel

Ahhhh...the weekend. We didn't do a ton which, in my book, is just fine. Friday night we went out to run a couple of errands and to grab a quick bite to eat at our favorite quick-n-easy restaurant. With Emma in tow, errands always seem to have a sense of urgency and Friday night our urgency was sidetracked by a mattress store of all things (because it was next to the cat-food store)! The good news is, this is being delivered on Thursday! We've upgraded to KING SIZE! (ya, it's about time) I'm stoked, but not excited to pay king size prices for linens, ugh! I did buy some 100% cotton, 660 thread count sheets on Overstock.com for a steal though.

We ended our Friday evening, thanks to my gangster-mafia loving husband, by watching The Departed which recently received major accolades. I loved the story line and was engaged immediately...then the violence began. In my youth I could've watched this flick no problem, but I'm finding that as I "mature" I just can't handle the graphic violence anymore. It physically makes me sick. So, I went to bed (I'm turning into my mother!).

On Saturday, we putzed around most of the day and prepared for some friends to come over for dinner. They have 3 children 5 years and under so it was an active, fun-filled evening. After dinner Joel took the two older girls, along with their dad, to the fire station for a hands-on tour. The girls apparently loved it and Joel enjoyed showing off all the trucks, tools, gear and equipment.

Sunday we went to church and again had to rescue Emma from Nursery. I never thought we'd have to utilize our nursery's pager system because Emma has always been great in nursery. Recent history now tells us that Emma has a meltdown after about 45 minutes and then only wants mom or dad (I think Joel enjoys rescuing Emma though). Kids always keep you guessing :)

Sunday night we had small group where we are discussing If You Want To Walk On Water You've Got To Get Out Of The Boat, by John Ortberg. The gist is learning
the skills essential to “water-walking” in faith with God: discerning God’s call, transcending fear, risking faith, managing failure, and trusting God. I highly recommend this study. The structure of this study lends towards a lot of discussion. While most Christians KNOW this theory of faith, the hard part is putting it to the test and letting go of our impulse for control.

There you have it! Nothing too exciting, but a darn good weekend if I say so myself :)

First of all, love the video. Makes you wonder what happened to all those guys that we blew off in high school huh? =) (O.k. maybe I should just speak for myself...)

Sounds like a great family weekend. We had nothing on Sunday and with the weather being so nice, it was great.

Enjoy your new bed. And one more thing, totally agree with you about the violence in t.v. and movies. Actually made my husband change the channel after some other person was killed on 24. Yuck.

This one darn long comment.

I think its funny how the "young" Toby Keith (in the video)is a complete hotty...no chick would laugh at him in real life.
