Princess castle

Last night, we took a big trip to Costco and purchased a new dining room table. It's something we've been talking about for years, but it never was at the top of our list.

Well, as anyone who's ever been to Costco knows, things there just catch your eye. It's like the black hole of consumerism in my book. Whatever it is, it worked. So, Tuesday night on a random-grab-a-few-necessities trip, we casually eyed the table. Then I sat at it. Then Joel shook it a bit and checked the joints. We even talked about it on the way home. Finally, when I knew it was going to be ours, Joel suggested that two of my closest allies take a look at it and let us know their thoughts. They liked it.

To make a long story short, the table came home with us last night. Since almost everything was already assembled, the boxes were massive and required a pick-up truck, a mini-van and even a second trip to get the last box.

Once Joel assembled the table, his bigger task was constructing the perfect, two-story, cardboard box, princess castle for Emma. Needless to say, when Emma woke up this morning she was eager to jump right in and then she played in it for hours.

Joel even helped her decorate it so it looked like a proper princess castle.

The undecorated version

A bit more princess-like apparently

It reminds me of Indians when they would use every bit of the buffalo to justify killing it. Certainly the table was worth it since Emma got her own castle!!!
very resourceful:)

Big boxes make great forts and houses, but an even better princess castle (that is two stories no less). Love the look on Emma's face as she enjoys her castle to the fullest!

Haven't been looking at blogs lately.... What an adorable castle!!! I can still remember playing for hours with a refrigerator box my parents gave my brother and me when we were little! What memories! Can't wait to see the new table in person.
