I survived. Last week was my maiden week-long camping experience. I've promised Joel that I'll give camping the ole college-try since he absolutely loves it. And, why wouldn't he...he grew up camping often with family and friends while creating wonderful memories.
Actually, we had a great time and I realized that camping it IS fun and I WILL camp again..next year :)
I must point out that we had absolutely amazing weather - perfect weather if you ask me. It was clear and sunny during the day and chilly at night with barely a trace of humidity. Oh, and hardly a bug in sight. That's a big bonus in my book.
Our camping experience took us to the lovely Yankee Springs campground at Gun Lake. Awesome. We spent the week biking, swimming, fishing, hiking, reading, talking, cooking, sunning and making our own family memories. Joel's parents were also camping, one lot over from ours. Our site was the perfect distance from the CLEAN and MODERN bathrooms, the channel where our pontoon was docked and the library-tent where Emma made countless trips on her tricycle to color, read, watch "big" kids, do crafts, etc.

This is how we roll...while camping
A plush queen bed - who knew!?
Plenty of room for dining, playing, cooking, napping etc.
Some would argue that this isn't camping - I beg to differ
Emma's latest picture face - and this face justhappens to be covered in butter, salt, corn and watermelon juice
Emma rolling around in sand. I had to toss my type-Apersonality into the trash and just enjoy my child who was
filthy 24/7.
Emma's rear end was planted on her tricycle almost all week long. In fact, she road about a mile and half with us one morning.
Her weary and tired body couldn't take it anymore and shehad a spill of monumental proportions. There were a few tears, but
a few hugs later and we were back at it!
Our usual afternoon getaway. A sandy, shallow area that we foundamong the almost 2700 acres of Gun Lake.
