Independence Day

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays since it falls mid-summer and there is a decent chance we'll have good weather. Boy, we hit the jackpot (in West Michigan at least) this year as the weather was glorious and we took full advantage of it by enjoying nearly every minute of it.

Additionally, and more importantly, this holiday helps me to remember what an amazing country we have - to be blessed with so many freedoms we often take for granted!

A quick run-down of our non-stop day is as follows. We drove to Ada to see the parade and hang with my mom while my dad drove their church's VBS float. We then wandered around the carnival-craft area for a while, waited in several (hot) lines for random rides then ate some lunch that we found under a large white tent.

In the afternoon we took my parent's pontoon boat for a delicious dinner cruise up the Grand River. Once that was done, we packed up for the trek across town to meet some friends for the fireworks in Grandville. It was a busy, but a fun filled day!
