This past weekend was fabuliciously busy. Friday was Joel's birthday - 36 years I might add - so Emma and I started the day by bringing a hot, heaping pan of pecan rolls to Joel's office. We also added a few balloons to the mix including a very cool firetruck mylar that Emma picked out. Later, Emma was unloaded on Auntie Bradi so she (Emma) could take a nap and I could get downtown to my office for some much needed catch up. After Emma's nap, Joel took Emma to my brother and SIL's house for the night so we could have a date night. THAT was awesome. The house was eerily quiet though, just like my SIL suggested it would be.
Anyhow, for our hot, unbelievably magical (Dutch) date night, we hit the matinée for the latest Indiana Jones movie. It was fair at best - a bit cheesy for my liking. I recommend it as a rental, Netflix, OnDemand, etc. Then it was off to Red Robin for Joel's FREE birthday burger and sundae. Wow, what a deal! I think we were home by 8:30 and snoozing shortly after. Boy, aren't we a bag full of fun!
Bright and early Saturday morning, Joel had our church golf outing and I had breakfast with a bunch of girls from church who have been getting together regularly for a while now - great group, good times.
Once Emma came home she was ready for a power nap, especially after all the fun she had with her triplet cousins - Aidan, Olivia and Regan. Then it was off to a splash pad at Lamar Park in Wyoming to meet some friends. It was a bit busy and quite chaotic, due to the heat I'm sure, but probably a place we wouldn't frequent anytime soon. It didn't help that Emma got whacked in the face with a full force kick from a kid three times her size. That ended our evening rather abruptly.
To make a busy day even busier, we headed down to Dorr to see if Emma's cousins wanted to go get some ice cream at the Dairy Ranch. Ah, that was affirmative.
No wonder Emma slept right through (me too) all those crazy storms on Saturday night. Poor Joel, no sleeping for him...fire call after fire call. What do they say - no rest for the wicked? :)
