Love Tank reads FULL

Valentine's day in the Hondorp household is pretty low key. Nothing fancy and nothing over the top. Sometimes I wonder if it's because we are both ultra practical or, did we fail to plan anything, or is it just that our love of one another is sufficient enough (insert finger into mouth here...blah!)?

It's probably a little bit of all three and just so I don't leave you all hanging (kidding), here's the rundown of what went down at the Hondorp-shack on the big V-day.

Thursdays, in general, are my day to actually go into my office and since my mom is out of town (she comes to watch Emma on Thursdays), Joel said he'd take the afternoon off to chill with Emma so that I could go to my office. That sounded super to me as I actually love to get away and be at my office and interact with a few adults now and again.
Anyhow, Joel then proceeded to tell me of his V-day intentions which were...going to Carrabbas to pick up my most favorite meal in the entire world (Spiedino Di Mare) and then stopping at Andicott for some fresh flowers. I told him that was very sweet, but unnecessary as I'd much rather go OUT to Carrabbas (sans child) and eat that dish of divinity in it's assigned atmosphere.

What took place instead "filled my love tank" way more than Joel's afore mentioned intentions proving that once again, money does not have to be spent to show how much you love someone.(Warning: reading any further may prompt you to go out and buy your own Joel...sorry, he is not for purchase!)

So that neither of us had to cook, I offered to stop by a local Chinese food joint and pick up an order of Princess chicken and two egg rolls (FYI - Chinese food is a beautiful thing). Then, as I walked in the door from the garage, I encountered this:

  1. Joel and Emma seated at the island both yelling "Happy Bal-tines Day mommy!" (actually, Emma first yelled "Happy Birfday mommy!" since it was her bday on Wednesday and is likely a bit confused).
  2. A card on the counter, from Joel, littered with Emma's sweet-as-punch 'drawings' all over it
  3. The smell of fresh bread baking (this bread that Joel makes is satan-in-a-pan I tell you! It tastes exactly like the yeast rolls at Logan's Steakhouse. Oh yeah, no bread machine either...hand made, from scratch!)
  4. All 8 loads of laundry were done, and mostly folded.
  5. Joel exclaiming that he and Emma had a "blast" playing all day while I was away.
THAT, my friends, made me one happy woman! Life is good...
