Today was a very special day for the Hondorp family as we added one more to the clan via adoption. To make a long story short, my brother-in-law (Joel's brother David) and wife (Angie) officially and finally adopted Angie's niece (Keri) after many years of her living with them. It was a very long road with twists and turns, but the wait was worth it. I never imagined that I'd get so emotional in that unsuspecting Allegan County courthouse, but when the judge asked everyone to say a little something about why Keri should be adopted, the river of tears started...and not just mine. There wasn't a dry eye in the courtroom. But, they were all tears of joy and we even had time for a little celebration afterwards, during lunch.
