Please Vote Tuesday, May 8!

Tuesday, May 8, is school election day in Michigan. The polls will be open from 7 AM to 8 PM.

On the ballot in Kent County will be elections for all local school boards, as well as the GRCC millage increase request.

Regardless of which community you live in, the GRCC millage will be on the ballot throughout all of Kent County. They are asking for a property tax increase on homeowners to fund their operations – not simply a renewal.

Additionally, there will be a millage increase request for "The Rapid" bus service. This would be a property tax increase on homeowners residing in the cities of East Grand Rapids, Grandville, Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Walker, and Kentwood. If you do not live in these communities, the tax will not appear on your ballot because it would not affect you.

At a minimum, your local school board election and the GRCC millage increase will appear on your ballot, regardless of where you live in Kent County. There may also be local millage proposals, such as in Wyoming.

Just a reminder and an encouragement for you to vote Tuesday.

Just want you to know that I am actually taking time out to call voters between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. who forgot to vote. How's that for getting involved you political junkie? ;)

By the way,I can really tell that Bradi had a baby ... her blogging profession has taken a serious hit.
