Awaken

This morning our alarm clock woke me up far too early. It was brutal. Joel and I were both up late, Joel, even later. My domesticated husband was canning meat (and oh so carefully preparing what will become a blue ribbon entry in this year's Hudsonville Fair) and the process is just plain LONG.

On a good note, we have received TWO calls on our condo, with scheduled showings. Anyone who has sold a house knows how showings are a mixed blessing. It's a whole lot of work for what potentially could be a SALE, or nothing at all. And, my other little blessing, Emma (a.k.a. Destructoid) does not help our "clean-up for the showing" situation.

Anyhow, our alarm clock goes off and we have our alarm set to wake us up to music. So, I hear this song for the first time and fall in love with it. Here are the words, by Natalie Grant from her album, Awaken:

Awaken

Sometimes I feel like I'm just existing
I'm not really living
I'm only watching the time slip away
I've forgotten who I am in you
I'm not who I'm meant to be
I'm drifting farther away from my destiny

CHORUS:
Awaken my heart, awaken my soul
Awaken your power and take control
Awaken the passion to live for you, Lord
Awaken me

My soul is longing, my heart is searching
I'm desperate for you to move
Give me a hunger, pull me closer
I'm crying out to you

CHORUS

Open my eyes so I can see your presence
Dwelling inside
Wake me up, 'cause I can't live another minute
If I'm not shining your light

Awaken my heart, Awaken my soul
Awaken the passion inside of me

Lord, awaken me to live my destiny
Lord, awaken me and shine your light through me
Lord, awaken me to live my destiny
Lord, awaken me and shine your light through me

I don't intend to be dramatic of overly philosophic, but the words just hit me and humbly reminded me how our spiritual walks can ebb and flow. And that's normal.

Big fans of Natalie Grant over here. My seven year old sat in front of your blog and hit play and sang the chorus of "Held" right along with Natalie. I'm not sure who's voice sounded better ... I'll have to check out her new song. Great lyrics.
