A nice Labor Day weekend

Joel, Emma & Grandma Kosten

I hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend. We sure did and partly due to the fact that we didn't have a whole lot planned. It was nice to relax and putz around our home for the weekend. Although, Emma did come down with her first ear infection, so I had take her into the Dr. on Saturday as she was feeling icky and acting the same...poor baby! She is now taking an awful, bubble-gum smelling antibiotic, but seems to be feeling better. I have a feeling that tubes-in-her-ears might be in our future...

Our weekend ended with a Monday night BBQ in Joel's parent's backyard...always fun! Joel and his dad each BBQ'd a couple racks of ribs and they were OH SO TASTEY!! If you haven't noticed, a vegetarian would NEVER survive in the Hondorp family. I didn't understand the finer points of a "beautiful piece of meat" until one Christmas, when Joel's dad started snapping pictures of a fresh-out-of-the-oven PRIME RIB ROAST. I guess that is where I've NOW assumed my delight at taking pictures of finely cooked meat. With that being said...here are a couple pics of Joel's Labor Day weekend meat. He slowly roasted and smoked 3 racks of baby-back ribs over indirect, charcoal heat...oh, and I can't forget the magnificent, dry-rub that gave the ribs their crusty coat. ENJOY!

You had me at "magnificent, dry-rub" ... and then you had to go and write "crusty coat"!

BTW, I could comment anonymously but not with my blogger account. And another btw, that's some nice looking meat your husband has again! Laurie
